A Meeting of Friends: Older Ukrainians and Danes Gathered at the VOC Valby Cultural Centre — Supported by Bevar Ukraine, VOC, and Velux Fonden
At the VOC Valby cultural centre for older adults, a warm and heartfelt gathering took place between elderly Ukrainians and Danes. The event was organised with the support of Bevar Ukraine and Velux Fonden.
The program included knitting socks for wounded soldiers, as well as a creative folk workshop led by art therapist and psychologist Yuliya Dmukh. Participants had the opportunity not only to express their creativity but also to share knowledge and cultural traditions of both peoples.
Despite language barriers, the atmosphere was friendly and open — everyone understood each other, and the shared dinner provided a wonderful opportunity for conversation and building new connections.
Special thanks to Velux Fonden for supporting this important event. We are glad to see how older Ukrainian refugees find relaxation and communicate with local people in Denmark.
Together, we strengthen Ukrainian-Danish ties and promote the integration of older Ukrainians into Danish society!
